Default No new Drives in Explorer

After installing a new USB Flash Drive (Memory Stick), the devices are now loaded correctly in the Device Manager (there is a USB Disk Device (x2) and 2xUSB Disk Pro in the HDD section with no errors) and these show that drive letters have been assigned ( E and F) respectively. HOWEVER, in Windows Explorer these drives are not shown and cannot be used (also by other Windows apps) ? The strange thing is that in a DOS command window they can be used !

Do you have any ideas on what I should do ? I have tried Uninstalling and Re-installing the drivers with the same result. The PC is a Toshiba Satellite 1640CDT notebook running Windows 98 SE.

Many thanks.
