Noel's Plastered (oops mean plaster)
iosubsys problem
lol Didn't really know how long the thread had got as I tend to only keep my ng posts for a couple of days g I find "NoelDP (at the pub)" so informative. -- Mike Which is why I replied that I knew the pub shouldn't have come into the equation g To answer Shane I don't leave OE running as I use Mailwasher to get my emails in first so the option in OE to check every so many minutes for mail has to be switched off. OT: Noel's Plastered (oops mean plaster)...(No I'm not!)
So - I'm now immortalised in Google as being Plastered!
WRT Messenger/OE, with Messenger it has the advantage that known contacts can see if you're online (assuming you remember to set your status!), and therefore know whether they might expect a speedy response, or not. Nothing to prevent you ignoring the attempted contact until you're ready, though -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2006, Windows) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.crashfixpc.com http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "Joan Archer" wrote in message ... iosubsys problem lol Didn't really know how long the thread had got as I tend to only keep my ng posts for a couple of days g I find "NoelDP (at the pub)" so informative. -- Mike Which is why I replied that I knew the pub shouldn't have come into the equation g To answer Shane I don't leave OE running as I use Mailwasher to get my emails in first so the option in OE to check every so many minutes for mail has to be switched off. I forgot about Google, sorry, you know I was only teasing.
Steven used to use Messenger a lot on the old 98 but I never really saw the need for it myself so never actually set it running on this machine and don't know if I can be bothered too, I'll have to think about that g Joan Noel Paton wrote: So - I'm now immortalised in Google as being Plastered! You do appreciate it's specifically wrt Messenger I ask. Anyway, I junked my
earlier accounts and only use the current isp and gmail one and get virtually zero spam now, Joan. I used to rely on Spambayes but now use nothing. Basically - apart from one addy I've never publicised - this is down to how Google handles spam! Its probably the world's most spam-aware organisation there is! That, 2G of space, and being able to access it from anywhere makes it the e-mail server of choice today, I reckon. Of course, it would blow up in one's face if it became the *only* e-mail server - then stopped accepting anything encrypted! I'm sure that's what the Government would want... I do now see that the value one places on Messenger depends on whether one is trying to minimise ones computer use or not. Shane |

It's not *Google* Noel uses, Joan. It's *Gargle*!

Noel's Plastered (oops mean plaster)
I do have a gmail account but very rarely use it, in fact I have several
email accounts. I have three ISP email accounts plus hotmail, gmail and yahoo plus my mobile email addy g I subscribe to a few newsletters as well so can keep a check on whats on the servers before bringing it into OE. Joan PS: I do know you junked your accounts because you told me it was just by chance you got the photo's I sent you g Shane wrote: You do appreciate it's specifically wrt Messenger I ask. Actually, I think "Google" and "gargle" should be replaced with "guzzle."
