Explorer
I am having a problem with my computer. It closes the windows when I click
the X but when I go to shut down it tells me the webpage or window that I had open is not responding. Then I do an CTRL ALT DEL and bring up the list of programs running. I select the one named Explorer and terminate it. When I do this it crashes my active desktop. I have to do a restore desktop after I restart my computer. I am not sure if the program listed as Explorer is Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer. And isn't there a explorer repair tool somewhere? IBM Aptiva Windows 98 , IE 6.0.2800.1106IC Windows Explorer = EXPLORER.EXE Internet Explorer = IEXPLORE.EXE They overlap but are different apps. You need Windows to operate the Desktop. An error message that a web page is Not Responding concerns only IE. IEXPLORE can be "repaired" (i.e. recopied) via MSINFO32 / Tools. No tool repairs EXPLORER = Windows. -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |

"Jimmy Fleetwood",
The golden rule is that you should not delete Systray or Explorer from 'Close Program' as they are vital to the running of your system. If you require confirmation of this fact go to www.google.com and search using: systray and explorer. Regards, Emrys Davies. wrote in message ... I am having a problem with my computer.
