USB driver problems (NTKERN.VXD / error code 2)
Trying to get the USB ports on a HP Pavilion 4440 to work, have re-installed
drivers over & over but still no luck - when I look at the USB root hub in device driver I get the message (not verbatim) that "NTKERN.VXD could not locate the device driver - error code 2". Have done lotsa research on the WWWeb and tried a few different suggestions but still no positive results. My next step is to update the BIOS and see if that fixes the problem (HP does have an updated, non-OS-specific BIOS available for this machine). BTW, the USB controller/port is on the motherboard and is a SiS 7001 PCI-USB Controller. Thanks in advance for any help! |

USB driver problems (NTKERN.VXD / error code 2)
You haven't told us what exactly you tried so it's hard to say what you
should try next. Maybe you should start from scratch, try this first: HP and Compaq PCs - USB Device Troubleshooting http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...cname=bph05956 If that doesn't work then try this, (although I would think that removing and reinstalling the HP usb.inf would do the same thing), won't hurt to try: USB Devices Do Not Work Correctly and You Receive "Could Not Load the Device Driver" Error Message http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;q299264 John B.
