In ,
DEAFLUGGS had this to say: My reply is at the bottom of your sent message: I HAVE AN OLD COMPUTER P111 800 THAT I AM USING FOR TRAINING.i HAVE INSTALLED WINDOWS ME, I NOW WANT TO PARTITION AND RE-FORMAT THE HD FROM DOS. AT THE A:\ PROMPT I TYPE FDISK, WHEN THE FDISK OPTIONS PAGE IS DISPLAYD, I GET A FLASHING MESSAGE. UNABLE TO ACCESS DRIVE 1 ANY IDEAS? Left hand side of the keyboard - shift lock or caps lock... Who knows? Maybe it prevents you from entering the BIOS and double checking to ensure the drive is recognized. -- Galen - MS MVP - Windows (Shell/User & IE) http://dts-l.org/ http://kgiii.info/ "At present I am, as you know, fairly busy, but I propose to devote my declining years to the composition of a textbook which shall focus the whole art of detection into one volume." - Sherlock Holmes |

Have you tried another Floppy disk?
Is the drive too large to be recognised correctly by the BIOS? are you using Drive overlay software for example? Drive 1? Boot drive would normally be Drive 0 You could use the CD-ROM to prepare the HD, just boot with your operating system CD and follow the prompts. TT "DEAFLUGGS" wrote in message ... Galen/Time Traveller, thanks for the help, got it solved. Finally got the
puter to accept a re-installation of the ME operating system and hey presto it cleared the FDISK fault, the original installation must have corrupted it somehow.
