Default CD drawer

The CD drawer on my PC (ME edtion) pops out and closes
randomly. Shutting down corrects the problem for an hour
or so and then it re-occurs.

Any help would be appreciated. THANKS.

Jim,

How long has this been happening? What changes did you make to your system
around the time that this started, both hardware and software, new and
updated? There is at least one "joke" program around that causes this to
happen.

Check your system for unwanted guests using your preferred antivirus
application equipped with current updated set of viral reference signatures.
I can't recall its name at the moment but have been aware of at least one
trojan that causes this to happen. I would also strongly recommend that you
install and use a firewall if you are not already doing so.

Mike,
Thanks for the response. It started happening about a year
ago and then disappeared. A few days ago, it reared it's
ugly head again.

Since I posted, I found out about the joke file
called "rudecd". It's supposed to make your drawer behave
as it it's giving you a "raspberry", which is pretty
descriptive of what I've seen.

I have run my virus scan and it came up empty. Later
tonight I'll update my Adaware 6.0 and run that. Thanks
again and I'll keep you posted.

Oh, by the way, I haven't made any changes to my system.
