Can't change display settings
I just refreshed Windows 98 and afterwards the fonts were
huge and the display setting were set to 640x480 and 16 colors. When I adjust the settings, Windows accepts teh change and does a restart. When the restart completes, the old settings (640x480;16 colors) have returned. I have a dell p991 monitor and Windows says that the driver is fine. What could prevent me from adjusting this setting? Thanks in advance, Ian |

Can't change display settings
Hi Ian,
This usually indicates that there is an incorrect video driver installed. Tip: Go to Start - Run and type Msconfig and press enter. On the General Tab click advanced, and make sure "VGA 640x480x16 is NOT checked before continuing. Go to the Dell web site and download the video driver for the system in question, and install it per there instructions. -- Regards, Bert Kinney [MS-MVP DTS] http://dts-l.org/ How to Configure Outlook Express for Internet News: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=171164 "Ian A" wrote in message ... Can't change display settings
Thanks Bert,
I have downloaded the driver and attempted to use it. When I do the update driver (system; device manager; monitor; driver) it says that it updates the driver, but when I go back in to view the driver info it says that no driver is required or loaded and the driver file filed is greyed out. Can't change display settings
Was this the suggested method of installation?
