'Spect you've sorted it by now, Mike. But just my twopenn'orth, first time I
investigated temps about 10 deg. higher than normal was after I fitted, iirc the cd rewriter. Although the wiring was at least 2 inches away from it, it was nonetheless now hanging into the path of the cpu fan, and that made the difference. Of course if you've got fans actually failing that presumably has something to do with it! Shane "Mike M" wrote in message ... Noel Paton wrote: "A fanny thing happened on the way to the forum..." gd&r - vvvvvF! I wish I knew what was going on with this box. Brand new cpu cooler and fan, cpu fan speed lovely and steady but the cpu temp is at the upper end of my limits. I did find though that the 120mm exhaust fan I had installed at the rear of the case had also failed and am currently running without that fan. I'm guessing that the exhaust fan was more effective than I thought in helping to keep the overall temps down and that once I've replaced it I'll start to see the cpu temp fall. Only problem is that the new cpu fan is fairly noisy but hopefully I'll be able to slow that one down once the new exhaust fan is fitted. -- Mike |

So, if I got a car, would you clean it up for me? ;-) Shane "Noel Paton" wrote in message ...
