Default BuzMe call log clears out on reboot

I installed BuzMe internet answering on my 98SE. When I get a call while I'm
online, it works fine and when I check the call log, I see the phone number
of the caller there. But after I reboot, the call log is blank. All the
callers who were there before are cleared out. BuzMe support says they
cannot duplicate the problem and it's probably some program I have which is
preventing the info being written into the registry. I use the latest free
AVG and ZoneAlarm and AT&T dialup. I disabled everything in msconfig (except
Systray, PowerProfile, ptsnoop and BuzMe) and rebooted and tried again but
still have the problem.

don't have an answer for that ...but i can say if you have "something" that
is preventing things being modified in the registry ..that would not be the
only problem you would see

strange they don't use a log file of some kind instead of the reg.

You could try disabling BuzMe in the Startup queue, also. But it really
sounds to me like the application itself is doing it. Have you tried
reinstalling it?

It's not impossible that some other app, one that "cleans" your tracks,
like Window Washer, or TweakUI's paranoia functions, might have the
effect of deleting this kind of Registry entry, but you say you've
disabled all that stuff.

I'd try it in Safe Mode. That is, after using the system normally and
having someone call in while you're online, in order to create new
entries, then shut down and restart in Safe Mode. See if the entries are
still there.

Not having the app, and not knowing exactly how or where it stores the
entries, and not being able to carefully investigate what apps might
have remained enabled even after using MSCONFIG... Makes it kinda hard
to diagnose form this distance.
