Default removing old programs

Hey, need some assistance with this issue.

When I downloaded a .pps file from hotmail it asks me what type of program
to open it with .... alright.

I noticed Windows media player on there 3 times (obviously older programs).

How can I ensure that older programs have been removed or in particular from
this list.

Ive posted on a similar issue regarding using the "right click" to scan for
a virus for insistance and it lists it twice.

Ive used add/remove as much as I can as well as a registry cleaner.

Thanks and look forward to your assistance.

1) PPS A file with a pps extension is a PowerPoint Slideshow file. If
you don't have Microsoft PowerPoint installed you can download a free
viewer from Microsoft that allow users to view PowerPoint pps files
(http://office.microsoft.com/download.../Ppview97.aspx) but not to
create or manipulate them.

2) You should have at least two Windows Media Player entries, a) WMP6.4
and b) either WMP7 or 9.
