Picture When Computer Comes On
Does anyone know how to change the picture that comes on when you
start the computer? Right now, there's the Microsoft Windows ME sign, and I'd like to change it to a nice picture. |

The picture you are seeing is built into the file io.sys. You can create
a custom "splash" screen as follows. Create a 256 colour bitmap (bmp) file with 640 pixels horizontal x 400 pixels vertical. When you are satisfied with the graphic resample it so that it is now 320 x 400 pixels and save as logo.bmp. Rename logo.bmp to logo.sys and place it in the root of C:\, that is in the same location as autoexec.bat and config.sys. Reboot and your new graphic should be displayed. Note that when displayed each horizontal pixel is displayed twice which is the reason why the graphic, although displayed as 640x400, needs to be saved as 320x400. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Walter Burbank wrote: Does anyone know how to change the picture that comes on when you start the computer?
