Default pausing print over a network

I want to remotely pause printing on a shared printer. when i try to do this
by right-clicking on the printer icon on the remote machine and selecting
"pause printing", it tells me "access is denied". the machine that has the
printer attached is running 98 and the remote machine is running XP Home.
how do i do this?
thanks for the help,

gary
