Default "Explorer has caused error...

....in unknown. Explorer will now close." etc, etc.

Any thoughts as to how best to first approach this curious
error message?

BTW, SP1 was installed on the machine from a cd-rom, and
after the error messages started popping up, I even re-
installed SP1!

Thanks in advance.

Default Ran Scandisk and defragged...sniff...

....didn't seem to do any good.

MSCONFIG startup list looks pretty acceptable, as well.

Since there are no SP's for Win ME, it sounds like you're using Windows XP,
and should post this query to a more appropriate newsgroup.

OTOH, the following applies to both ME and XP

Such errors are often caused by spyware - download AdAware from
www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.

Hi Noel-

I'm an ME kinda guy, not XP. I now suspect some crap being
loaded from a Toshiba cable modem disc (perhaps checking
off the wrong things once or three times...).

So I went to the handy System Restore and chose a 30-day
point. All is well...now to be careful with the dang
Toshiba disc!

Thanks for responding, Noel.

BTW, I ran Ad-aware, nothing came up.

Until the next time, as the announcer says...
