Fresh install of WinMe has become sluggish, among other things, trying to "play" the NOTIFY/Chord/etc.WAVs
I fresh-installed WinMe about a week or so ago.
Obviously since then I've been installing software packages - on a "as needed" basis. A couple of days ago the system started to become sluggish. The most noticable symptom is when I do something that requires Windows to sound a NOTIFY.WAV or similar sound - the system freezes (mouse ans keyboard inoperative) for up to 5 seconds before giving the "click", "dung", or whatever when everything springs to life again. Repeating the action, or some other action immediately the sound is immedaite again - but leave it for a few seconds and it's back to sluggy agaiin. Any ideas? Thanks for any suggestions - however wild :-) -- paulo the perplexed |
