While instalizing device NDIS. Windows protection error.
Curt, I have this problem also. What number did you call to get this for free?
All I can find at the link you provided is one that states cost $35! Any chance you can post this patch? Thanks, gm Curt Christianson wrote: You have to call MS for the patch, but they will supply it free of charge as long as you don't ask for any other help. I just got the same thing. It is a problem with the network adapter. It sounds like there is a known bug if you try to install 98 on a computer with a processor faster than 2.1 Ghz, which I think is my problem. I assume there may be several other causes as well though. I am looking for a patch and if anyone has or knows where to get one please let me know. -----Original Message----- I just installed windows 98 to a brand new hard drive. I got through all the setup crap, restarted, and now this... Anyone have a clue what it means? . --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). So I am still looking for the solution.... -gm |

E-mail AntiSpam: remove ## Got it working. Here's the summary to close the thread. I had two problems, and had to solve the first before I could fix the NDIS error. The other problem was due to using an LS120 FDD as my only FDD. This has not been a problem before, but was in this particular hardware config. I started over using a USB FDD and the hardware was OK with that. After removing that roadblock, I was able to install Win98 and when it did the last installation reboot and got the NDIS failure I was able to restart, divert to Safe Mode, run the 312108USA8.EXE file and then complete the install. Thanks for the assistance. gm |
