Default While instalizing device NDIS. Windows protection error.

Curt, I have this problem also. What number did you call to get this for free?
All I can find at the link you provided is one that states cost $35!

Any chance you can post this patch?

Thanks,
gm

You have to call MS for the patch, but they will supply it free of charge as
long as you don't ask for any other help.

I just got the same thing. It is a problem with the
network adapter. It sounds like there is a known bug if
you try to install 98 on a computer with a processor
faster than 2.1 Ghz, which I think is my problem. I assume
there may be several other causes as well though. I am
looking for a patch and if anyone has or knows where to
get one please let me know.

-----Original Message-----
I just installed windows 98 to a brand new hard drive. I
got through all the setup crap, restarted, and now
this... Anyone have a clue what it means?

I would do that, if windows would actually boot. But since not being able to boot
windows is the root of this entire problem, that implememtation is a bit difficult! So
I am still looking for the solution....

So far I have not even been able to boot successfully to Safe Mode! I will continue trying
but it is not looking good. Thanks for the assistance all the same.

Got it working. Here's the summary to close the thread. I had two problems, and had to solve
the first before I could fix the NDIS error. The other problem was due to using an LS120 FDD as
my only FDD. This has not been a problem before, but was in this particular hardware config. I
started over using a USB FDD and the hardware was OK with that. After removing that roadblock,
I was able to install Win98 and when it did the last installation reboot and got the NDIS
failure I was able to restart, divert to Safe Mode, run the 312108USA8.EXE file and then
complete the install.

Thanks for the assistance.
