Default Wordpad fails to load

Belated thanks, it worked!

Very glad I used a rarely accessed email. Viruses get
sent almost daily.

Many errors in Wordpad are fixed by removing this key in

the Registry
with Regedit:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr ent
Version\Applets\Wordpad
A restart may be necessary.
