I somehow saved My Albums in My Documents as AMB files
instead of JPEG files. Is it possible for me to switch them to jpeg files, and if so how do I do this? |

Xnview has a nice little batch file renaming function. http://www.xnview.com , it's freeware that I love. Or you can boot to DOS, or open a DOS window and navigate to the folder and type: REN *.amb *.jpg Or you can navigate to the folder via Windows explorer, then Open the run dialogue and type COMMAND The prompt should read C:\My Documents , then type: REN *.amb *.jpg -- Sincerely, Andrew H. I don't know what an .amb file is so instead, I am going to provide an
explanation using files I am familiar with. If you have a .gif file named: john.gif and you changed it in Windows Explorer to read: John.jpg , all you have changed is the file format name. You did not make the .gif file become a .jpg file. If this is what you did, Andrew's advice to rename the files is correct. However, if you had a .gif file and used a graphics program to save it as a .jpg program, the picture is now a .jpg file. In this case, changing the file extension name will do nothing--you have to use the program to change it back to the correct format. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "Karen M" wrote in message ... Andrew,
I did what you suggested by finding the file thru Windows Explorer and at the My Documents prompt I typed in REN *.amb *.jpg with the proper spaces & all but it didn't work. I checked My Album files again and found it was abm files instead. I tried that the next time & after I typed it all in and hit enter, all it said was that those files already exist. I downloaded the nxview program and tried for several hours to change my file extensions to jpeg but couldn't, so I quit for the evening. I can't open up them up in My Album because it says they are somehow associated with the MONEY program. I'm confused & frustrated. Please help.
