My laptop a (Compaq system), runs on win me installed by me. The CD- Rom
drive is bad and the FDD is also bad. My win me boots normally, it does not
display anything after booting, no task bar, no icon on the desktop,
nothing. The program manger does not show any running program. How do I fix
this problem. Is the a way of making Win Me to boot to DOS prompt?, I have a
copy of the OS on the Hard Disk. How can I have access to the Hard Disk?

However did you cause that ?

You can probably still boot into SafeMode. While booting tap on the F8
or Ctrl key; a text-mode menu should come up, one of the Options is
SafeMode.

Now run a SystemRestore to the last known good date (if it's within the
last couple weeks or so).
