Default What happens if I use an ATA-33 cable on an ATA-66 ulta system

This might not be the right forum, as this is more of an eIDE question
than a Windows one, but I wasn't 100 percent sure that the problem was
the hard drive, but it might have been the cable or worse the port. I
got a "new" drive and a "new" cable from a friend who has several dead
computers that he keeps around for parts. However, now the old drive
seems to be transferring data rather slowly compared to how it was
before. Copying to Vista on a fast ethernet network only goes at about
40k/sec. Is it possible that the cable my friend gave me was an ATA-33
or older one? What else could make things go so slow? Before I got
several MB per second. I'm pretty sure this Dell Optiplex GX-110 is an
ATA-66 Ultra system. The slow speed is NOT just limited to the
network, but from HD to HD.
