Noel,
AFAIK Win Me does not include PPOE adapter software. This is often supplied by the ISP concerned alternatively some users use WinPOEt. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Noel Paton wrote: Plug and play is the order of business - it just works! |

ARRGH!!
You are probably right - I was thinking PPPoA. -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2005, Windows) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm In fond memory of one of life's Gentlemen - Alex Nichol http://www.aumha.org/alex.htm Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "Mike M" wrote in message ... I've found the PPPoE at http://www.raspppoe.com and
the instructions at http://www.raspppoe.com/README9X.HTM . Could arise some problems this installation ? and if I take a restore check point before it ....restoring the system everything would be OK ? Thanks a lot. Regards. I can't comment about any possible problems you might encounter installing
raspppoe as I have only ever used PPPOA (Point to Point Protocol Over ATM) rather than PPPOE. As for system restore, yes, I would certainly ensure that a checkpoint is created before making any changes such as installing raspppoe as restoring to that checkpoint should enable you to undo any problems generated as a result of a problematic install. Many thanks . May I ask your opinion about this note ? Is really asking to remove TCP ( or I get this because of my bad English ....) ? Regards. IMPORTANT: Locate and select the TCP/IP-Adapter Name entry for the network adapter connected to your broadband modem. If this network adapter is dedicated to your broadband modem, simply click the Remove button. If you also want to access other local machines through the same network adapter, click the Configure button and assign a fixed IP address (e.g. 192.168.0.1 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0). If you do not take either of these steps, you will experience periodic pauses while using this protocol, because Windows will periodically halt the network adapter and try to acquire for an IP address for it, which also makes the machine take significantly longer to boot up. penned this whopper in microsoft.public.windowsme.new-user ARRGH!! You are probably right - I was thinking PPPoA. No, but XP does. The best solution out there is PasPPoe. -- "Time will bring to light whatever is hidden; it will cover up and conceal what is now shining in splendor." Horace (65 - 8 BC); Roman poet. Mike |
