Wireless Card laptop install problems
I am trying to install a Linksys WPC54G notebook adapter into
an Inspiron7000 with 192MB RAM, 4.5Gig free HD recently upgraded from WIN98 to WIN98SE. I had installed a WP11 wireless card OK but had limited range. I want to see if the Linksys has more range. It installed OK on my Inspiron5000e with WIN98SE which also had the other card installed. The installation fails at the end and gives the message: ErrorCode=3, Error Desc.=Required data not found or disk space not enough. The system has 4.5GB free. Is there a way to see what data it may be looking for but not finding. Linksys says to contact Microsoft but I think with a little help I should be able to find the problem. I had 4 files missing when I tried to install the other card and loaded them after they were identified on the installation and restart. It happened with the same 4 files on a desktop that a friend also upgraded to WIN98SE and installed a wireless card. Thanks.... |
