You will probably be able to boot in Safe Mode?

Try that and right-click the desktop and select properties to enter =
Display Properties.

Go to the Settings tab and click the Advanced button.

Select the Adapter tab and click the Change button.

Install a Standard VGA device and reboot.

This should permit booting up in normal mode and reinstall the correct =
driver and change the refresh rate.

Hi!

Hit F8 at startup. You should see a start menu. Select Safe Mode and =
proceed.

Alternatively, press the CTRL key and keep it pressed at startup. Again =
you should see a start menu. Select Safe Mode and proceed.

Good luck.

Accessing the Safe Mode varies with machines.......you should be able to
continuously "tap" the F8 key or hold the Ctrl key down during the boot
sequence to access the boot menu. Choice #3 is for booting into Safe Mode.
Note that you will be booting with a minimal amount of drivers needed for
Windows, so, your screen will be different due to being in the standard VGA
mode and you may have to 'rearrange' your desktop icons after you get back
into the regular Windows mode.

This may seem a silly suggestion but are you sure that your monitor
hasn't gone into standby. Mine does that after shutting down and before
starting up but once the computer is turned on the monitor is OK.
Just a thought,
Joan

PJ,

This can happen if your Monitor Refresh Rate is set to high. I've set up =
new systems in the shop only to have the customer go out a but a Flat =
Screen Monitor and call me back with the same error message. I have them =
bring the system back, set the Refresh Rate to Adapter Default and all =
is well.=20

All the best,
