Default Partition,backup

I have 40 Gig hard disc with window 98 on it I want to
keep my old program that run on window 98 But I also have
newer program that won't run on win 98 So I planned to
install win XP on the same disk
I planned to use Partition magic 7 to create new
partition so that I can install my win XP But first I
must backup the HD on my other computer using local
network .
Total require space is 8 Gig and I have space for 15 Gig
on my other computer
But when I backup it stopped after 6.6 Gig saying that it
require space I know for sure there are 15 Gig on my othe
r computer
Wonder what happened her thanks
Is ther limitation of the folder because I put the backup
on the folder ?
