Default Recurring problem- Fatal Exception 0E at 0028:00000013

When I closed the computer, blue window with message Fatal Exception 0E
occurred at 0028:00000013 turned up. And I have to reboot the computer and
then again closed it sucessfully.

Sometime the machine stopped at "Window is closing" screen. And then I
powered off it.

My machine installed with Trend Miicro PC-cillin iInternet Security 2006.

Please advise.

Definitely, try... "START button, Run, MSConfig, Advanced button".
Check "Disable fast shutdown", if there. The item won't be there, if you
have downloaded a certain patch from Windows Update.

To help possibly isolate what's causing the error during shutdown, before selecting Start Shutdown:
Press ctrl+alt+del.
Hilite a running process (except Explorer or Systray) and End Task on the process.
Shutdown via Start Shutdown.

If the error still appears, on the next shutdown End Task on another process before shutting down.
Do this until you find the offending process.

You may want to start with any process that has to do with audio/video.

Once you have the offending process you can then go after getting it straightened out. Post the name of the process in a response to this thread as well for us to have a look-see for a possible solution.

Default Recurring problem- Fatal Exception 0E at 0028:00000013

I hvave check "Disable fast shutdown" and shut down the computer. The same
message Fatal exception 0E at 0028:00000013 occurred.

I have searched and read the articles about Fatal Exception 0E at 0028:xxx,
but could not find any clue and solution.

Before, I have updated the display driver and the anti-virus program. Is one
of them the culprit?

Please advise

That can be very difficult to track down. I see Brian A. has a suggestion. Also, the article & Aumha have detection procedures. Does it happen infrequently? Then, it may not be worth the hunt. Do you close your own programs before shutdown & wait for their icon to leave the Taskbar? If not, then do so! I certainly never again will shutdown, before I close OE separately first!

Definitely could be, if the problem started afterwards! Look in Device Manager for any red/yellow ?/! on the icons at left, & report back...

Default Recurring problem- Fatal Exception 0E at 0028:00000013

After I have checked the "disable fast shutdown", the problem occurred one
time when I shutdown the computer after I closed the brower and went to
control Panel/Internet Option and clicked to clear the temporary internet
file and history.

I have tested by closing down the running program on by on including the
real-time protection of the anti-virus program (except Explorer and System
tray), the problem did not happened.

However, just before when I browing webpage with the MSN messenger and Yahoo
messenger running, a blue screen turned up again with another message A
fatal exception 0E occurred 00286D0AF00 in VXD TM_CFW(01) + 00108E20.

What happened to my computer? And how to fix it all? Please advise.

Finally, you should generally clean up your Startup Group...

First, pick one of the following to identify what loads at your boot, as shown at "START button, Run, MSInfo32, Software Environment, Running Tasks". Next, see whether there is an option in it's menus to disable it from starting up, if you can do without it. If you really want to rid yourself of it on a permanent basis, then look for it in "Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs". However, it isn't often easy to know what is what in there. Default Recurring problem- Fatal Exception 0E at 0028:00000013

I'm not sure you've done everything me 'n Brian A. have said to do. Did you look in Device Manager for any red/yellow/blue ?/!'s on the icons, for instance? Anyhow...

(1) When did you last do a Scandisk (Thorough, usually w/o write testing) & a Defrag? But don't let them constantly restart! If they do, cancel & post back. Then basically I'll tell you to turn off your Startup Group first-- ESPECIALLY the virus checker-- before doing the Scandisk/Defrag. Turn them off using an option in them (preferable) or by unchecking them at... "START button, Run, MSConfig, Startup tab". That is called a clean boot. Do you ever crash when shutting down after a clean boot? If not, it is something in the Startup Group causing the bad shutdown.

(2) "START button, Run, MSInfo32, Tools menu, IE Repair Tool"

It produces a rather large "Fix IE Log.txt" in C:\Windows. IE & E
are basically one & the same. If this crashes, an over-install of IE is
indicated.
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=194177
Description of the Internet Explorer Repair Tool

(3) Over-install IE. Try first without, but I believe it will request an
internet connection. Perhaps it is best to let it connect, actually. If
you don't care to get this fancy, just skip to step (c).

(a) Turn off interfering programs. Use http://www.pcmag.com/ 's
"StartupCop" or "EndItAll2". Or "START, Run, MSConfig, Startup tab".
Note what is unchecked, if anything. Then, go to the General tab &
disable the entire Startup Group, by clicking "Selective.." & unchecking
"Load Startup...". Reboot.

(b) Perhaps, if you haven't got EndItAll2, then "Ctrl-Alt-Del" & end
task all but Explorer & Systray. If this goes badly, start again from
top, & skip it next time.

(c) "START, Find, F/F, IE6Setup.exe". Click it in the Find window.
NOTE: If you are IE5, then it's "IE5Setup.exe". If there are more
than one (I have two each), click the one in "C:\WINDOWS\Windows
Update Setup Files" or "C:\Windows Update Setup Files", as applicable.

(d) Re-enable the Startup Group. That will automatically check all
items. Go to the Startup tab & uncheck any noted in step (a). Reboot.

(e) Perhaps go to Windows Update, to see whether it now offers
criticals.

|
One of these URL's may say. If no other way, disable it at "START button, Run, MSConfig, Startup tab".

Default Recurring problem- Fatal Exception 0E at 0028:00000013

I have looked in the Devise Manager and Red/Yelow/blue? /! icons not found.
I could recall that last Scandisk and defrag were done about 3 years ago.
I have run Repair Internet tool to check and repair IE before. The problem
persisted. And I looled in the "Fix IE Log.txt", I am not sure if there is
any crash.
Is it needed to over-install IE?

If this crashes, an over-install of IE is
indicated.

Reboot.

(e) Perhaps go to Windows Update, to see whether it now offers
criticals.
