Default laptops & monitor driver

Does anyone know if the monitor driver matters in laptops?

When we click on the 'display' icon (or function) and select
Settings-Advanced,
we have two places to select drivers.
a. Display Adapter
b. Monitor

For non-laptop computers, we use both, and both make a difference.

For laptop computers where the display is built in, does the monitor driver
matter? Is it monitor driver bypassed?

Thanks BR
