Default Scandisk detection

I loaded a game onto my computer and when I rebooted the machine I received
this error, "scandisk detected an invalid long file name entry on this drive
but was unable to fix it". Can you please assist me in rectifying this error.
Thank you for your time and assistance.

Contact the support department for the game.

Try running scandisk and defrag from the Windows environment. The game
likely failed to install the DOS short file name [some installers are having
this difficulty/error in their routines] or there may be an error in the
FAT.

What game, and what OSs is it supposed to work with?

This would be normal if you booted DOS and ran
SCANDISK.EXE (and have any LFN on the drive).
To proceed without errors, load Windows and run
SCANDISKW.EXE (the Windows module.)

Do you know if the message referred to a file associated with that game? If
so, uninstall the game and re-install it to a different location where the
path to the files would be shorter. For instance, install it to
C:\Games\name (or even C:\name) instead of C:\Program Files\etc.

If Scandisk does not usually run at startup then there may be some other
problem, possibly with the game you installed, or simply accidentally
occurring at the same time.
