Default New Install of IE-7; Glen & Brian

Oh, this I forgot, after the install of IE-7, now this really ticks me off.

I've had to turn on Tools - Folder Obtions/View Tab, my settings were as I
expected!! However I'm unable to see the Temporary Internet Files folder in
the Local Settings folder.... C:\Documents and Settings\Star\Local Settings.

I had to turn on SHOW system **show Protected Operating System** files to
see the TIF folder, this was not the case before the install, it's the same
for the History fldr. it's now a **Protected Operating System file**, why??

I would like to change this back via the registry, I always have turned on
Show Hidden Files & Fldrs. & Display the Contents of System Folders ONLY.

I'm really unhappy w/the change!!

Thank you Star

It's for security reasons, Star.

Really, I know you like us and all, but IE7 won't even install to a Windows
98 system. This is a Windows 98 forum. Please post your Windows XP and IE7
questions to the appropriate forums. People there will probably have
encountered the issues you come up with many, many times already, and have
an answer for you that makes sense, and probably several alternative
strategies may be provided.

Hi Gary,

You remember me, well I did finally settle into W-XP after stomping it out
many times.

I don't post here often, sorry if you were offended by it, being about IE-7.

Much is the same, GUI is different. IE options many same, some new as would
be expected. Overall IE browser is what it is!! Actually, that can be said
for W-95 thru W-XP, some things change, others don't, and actually they all
have MUCH in common.

I believe I'm going to rollback to IE-6, I set a personal restore point
before the install.

I know you use W-XP and are very fond of it, I'm curious if your running
IE-7...??

Regards,
Star

I wasn't offended, Star, just suggesting that you might get better
assistance elsewhere, s.

I run IE7 on a couple of machines, haven't dared install it on others.
Mostly, as with other MS products, I find the default settings to be the
most irritating aspect, but it didn't take me long to fix *that*, s.
