problems with D-Link DFE-520TX Network Adapter
I replaced old Realtek RTL8029 PCI network card with new D-Link DFE-520TX
fast ethernet Network Adapter (10/100M), but my system work very slow now. Card has been installed correctly, aas was specified in user manual. But now a web pages loads very slow, everything loads very slow. Comparing with old Realtek 10Mbit network card, D-Link has more settings, include Connection Type selection, default was Auto-Negotiation. I changed this to 10BaseT Half Duplex, but this does not improve speed.. |

I suppose the first question would be; have you checked for malware within the system and whether you verified by using one not already installed [preferably, by using a Live CD or otherwise]? Second, what version of Windows98 and its update status [standard or otherwise] and whether this is a real computer and not in a VM? -- MEB http://peoplescounsel.org/ref/windows-main.htm Windows Info, Diagnostics, Security, Networking http://peoplescounsel.org The "real world" of Law, Justice, and Government ___--- |

Try a D-link newsgroup or their forum, if they have one. Buffalo |

problems with D-Link DFE-520TX Network Adapter
Win 98SE, all updates, real box, not VM, no viruses or malware. D-Link
DFE-520TX has not been installed before. After running pc for about a hour or so, it seems speed restored to normal. I tnink the possible problem was on the provider's side, or, probably that was caused by changing MAC address on new Ethernet card, and this may cause delay in registering PC in provider's network. problems with D-Link DFE-520TX Network Adapter
There was periodic problems with old realtek NIC, sometimes it crashed when
loading windows, then it was very difficult to get it to work, even after properly installing drivers, since installed drivers often can not be recognized. ------------ "Buffalo" wrote in message ...
