Default Cannot assign resources to ISA card (missing resources tab)

Hi all,

I have a problem installing a non-PnP sound/radio combo card and a PnP ISDN
card (both ISA). The combo card is Miro PCM20radio, the ISDN card Teles
16.3c PnP.
Those two don't seem to go along with each other. Installed separately, both
work, on several IRQs (I have enough free) and I/O settings.
When I install the sound card first, the ISDN card isn't recognized by PnP.
When I install the ISDN card first, it stops working when I install the
sound card. The first strange thing is that the sound card seems to always
pick *exactly* the IRQs where there's the ISDN card is installed. Although
the sound card isn't PnP, you can only assign resources in device manager.
After a *lot* of fiddling I managed to get both cards on the same device
manager screen: the sound card is (momentarily) disabled, the ISDN card has
an exclamation mark. On startup, the ISDN card's drivers complain about not
having resources assigned.
But when I go into the card's properties in device manager, there is *no*
resources tab. My plan was to assign resources manually (so they wouldn't
conflict with the sound card) and reenable the sound card. But this doesn't
seem to work, not having any way to assign resources. What's the secret of
the missing resources tab? How can I get it back? Googling doesn't give me
anything useful for "missing resources tab".

Any help appreciated. TIA
Alex

Check the BIOS for Legacy ISA IRQ assignment.

Try installing the ISDN and manually changing the resources to other than the
one used by the Sound combo card before re-enabling the combo.

As Brian mentioned, check the BIOS settings for reserving resources for ISA
assignment. Also, you say the sound card is not plug n play.....doesn't it then
have jumpers you can set to manually select the IRQ for it to use?

There are no jumpers on either card.
I've tried several possibilities in the BIOS from "auto" and everything
"PnP" or everything "Legacy ISA" to only those "Legacy ISA" that the sound
card uses. Every setting had the same result.
And (before somebody mentions it) there isn't a dos configuration utility,
either.
The point of my post was: How can the resources tab, that is the *only*
possibility to assign resources to the ISDN card and that is present when
the card is installed separately, be missing when the sound card is present
(even when the sound card is disabled) and what can be done against it?

You generally can't assign resources to these devices using device manager,
even though it sometimes lets you make changes. There is no standard way to
set these devices up for a specific resource, and device manager does not
understand the specifics of these cards.

If the sound card is not PnP and does not have jumpers then its resources
are assigned by the sound card installation program. You must use this
program to initialize the card to the correct settings, even if Windows seem
to identify it and install it. It's not necessarily a DOS application.
