How to keep programs from starting up whenever I start Windows
Whenever I start Windows, lots of programs also start up.
I know there is a list somewhere that I can delete these programs from but I don't know where it is. Does anybody know where in Windows I can find it? I would appreciate any help. |

No problem Morrie: Hit Start, click on Run and type 'msconfig' into the space provided, then hit Enter. Click on Startup and you will find what you are looking for. Harry, old and knows something. Almost forgot, Morrie: Be careful with the delete, before you do, rather just uncheck and see how things are going first. Harry, old and does forget. "Morrie Ross" wrote in message ... Have a look at these sites for help with programs running at start up.
Joan A good process viewer will tell you everything that is running, to include background processes. Try Process Explorer, free from www.sysinternals.com .. CTRL-ALT-DEL will bring up the End Task window, however, it will not show every running process. Most apps can be disabled from within the app itself by using Properties or Settings or Options......the best way to disable an app. Here are some sites that will help you trim your startup axis......they will tell you what is needed and what is 'fluff.' http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php http://www.3feetunder.com/krick/startup/list.html http://ww2.whidbey.net/djdenham/Uncheck.htm http://www.answersthatwork.com/Taskl...s/tasklist.htm http://www.greatis.com/regrun3appdatabase.htm Morrie Ross wrote: Whenever I start Windows, lots of programs also start up. Thank you, Joan. I have downloaded this program and will install next. Seems like a very useful tool. Harry, old and sometimes useful too. "Joan Archer" wrote in message ... Now that I installed it, Joan, I recognized the program instantly. I had forgotten about it since I lost it in my last format. Thanks for giving it back to me. Harry, old and forgetful.
