Default Autohiding explorer bar in full screen mode

In the last couple of days IE6 has started behaving differently on my
win98SE/IE6 system (all updated via Windows Update)
Previously the default setting on the favourites - history - search -
media sidebar was that it would autohide in fullscreen (f11 toggle)
mode.

Now it defaults to NOT autohiding, even if I click the pin icon and
close using control and close button - the altered setting will not
stick.

I have tried refreshing the registry entry for explorer bars at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Explorer Bars - I
presume the setting is in there somewhere but it isn't obvious which it
is.

Also using Zone Alarm free, Spybot S&D (resident), NAV 2003Pro, Adaware
SE free version
Any help appreciated - this is irritating!

To close this thread, Robert M Jones posted this back in
win98.internet.browser in late September

solved it - the pin was being hidden in fullscreen by the slow to
autohide upper toolbar of IE. When that slid up, the pin became visible
and for some reason someone else in the family (I've ben away for three
days) seems to have clicked it to "stick" the favorites/history/search
bar. I've now unstuck it.
Thanks anyway.

Unfortunately although I thought that had fixed it, it hadn't! Hence the
further posts.

The pin icon although now visible was still "stuck" to defaulting to the
"no autohide" position and stll is, no matter how often I change it by
clicking on the pin icon. The next instance of IE will always revert to
not autohiding the favorites bar.

Darn, don't you hate it when that happens!!

There must be a registry glitch that is causing that problem. I'll see what
I can find.

many thanks. I located the registry keys for the various Explorer bars
but can't get any further as I don't know what might need changing.
