Default Blank Web Page

Hello anyone'
Tried in the IE6 browser group and got no response, so perhaps this is a
better venue--I need to check my daughter's G-mail while she is on a sample
collecting trip to Russia and when I try to access her gmail account,
everything goes fine up till the point where (apparently) the server is
accessed after I have given her account name and password. It then says:
"Loading..."
Which disappears shortly, saying 'done' in the progress bar, and displays a
completely blank screen--no more. I have tried this with all options set
for 'prompt' and get an amazing number of response boxes right up to that
point. I have even tried permitting 3rd party cookies for that session, and
permitting nearly anything else I can think of, but it still won't do the
trick.
I should mention that I use the EZ Armor combination of the e-trust AV
and the Zone Alarm firewall. Mostly, they work, though the firewall will
occasionally hang the machine at odd times. I consulted the support people
and they said reinstall, but it hasn't gone away. However, I'm not at all
sure that the firewall is the cause, since it isn't hanging all that often,
and this problem occurs every time.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Joe

Yes. Enable all 3 scripting options. I have direct experience
of web sites treating "Prompt" equal to "Disable".
If you don't have the script options set to "Enable",
the scripts do not run and you get Sassquatch.

When you have finished, Disable the scripting options again.

Hugh-
Thanks for your suggestions. I tried it, that is, I tried explicitly
enabling all three scripting options, no joy, went back, set it to default
(medium), exited, came back & checked the dots, all enabled, still no use,
then tried enabling 3rd-party cookies (no prompt) and it still does the
same. What puzzles me is that there is no message of any kind suggesting
error, which was one reason I tried prompt on everything. Puzzles me that I
got no request to leave a cookie when I had that on prompt, since Google
says you must have cookies enabled.
Thanks for your assistance,
Joe

Hugh-
I sent a reply, but don't know what I did, since I can't see it--don't
know where it went.
Anyhow, thanks for your suggestions, in fact, they were germane, since I
finally found that the default setting (or so it seemed) in the firewall
part of EZ Armor LE apparently blocks 3rd party cookies, web bugs, and
various scripting functions, but it seemed that I needed to enable them all
to get gmail to work. As I check it from time to time, I may be able to
refine the approach.

Again, thanks,
Joe

To anyone still interested:
Strange as it may seem changes in privacy levels, either in IE6 or in EZ
Armor LE will not seem to be available to Gmail, even after closing down the
routines involved and restarting, or even after shutting down the machine.
However, EZ Armor has an 'Empty Cache' feature which may be used to
*reliably* empty the temp and TIFs (unlike IE6 which is *not* reliable in
this) and when this is done, changes in cookie acceptance and other privacy
settings are seen, and all functions as it should. At least this is the way
it works on my flaky machine, and caused me some frustration until I found
it to work. Of course, the machine does its periodic hanging, etc., which
is more pronounced since installing EZ Armor.
Happy computing,
Joe
