Default Only loads in safe mode - HELP PLEASE!

Hi,

I have a Windows 98 machine as part of my set of network
computers. My babysitter was using it, apparently, for
MSN chatting.

When I "woke the computer up" today, it had a fatal
error message. I tried to restart and it went to the
Blue Windows main screen, sat there for a few minutes
(never going to the desktop) and then rebooted itself to
the screen that gives me a choice to load in safe mode.

I remember that one of the messages said that there was a
problem with msgsvr32.

What can I do to start to try to find out the problem?
Can anyone give me some ideas?

Default Only loads in safe mode - HELP PLEASE!

For a start, try these:

Windows 98 or Windows 95 Defaults to Safe Mode
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=143283

The Computer Always Starts in Safe Mode
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306615

If no joy, post back and let us know exactly what is happening and what the
exact error messages are.

Default Only loads in safe mode - HELP PLEASE!

Hi,

My computer will only load in SAFE MODE. It begins to
load, goes to the Window screen, then reboots itself and
gives me the screen with SAFE MODE as an option.

I have the EBD ... but what can I do to try to fix this
system? Nothing new was added ... not sure why Windows
98 won't load properly. Are there any diagnostic or
system checks I can try to identify the problem?

Thanks so much for your help!!!!

Did you read the two articles I referenced and, if so, did the procedures
not work?
