Default FAT32

Hello All:
I run early P4 1.3ghz with Windows ME. Question re formatting of flash USB
(thumb) drive. Have an electronic piece of equipment which needs a firmware
upgrade and Sony (mfg) says upgrade files must be formatted to FAT32 flash
USB drive - to work.

Receieved drive (4 gb) and it works fine right out of package. But checking
properties of drive shows only "FAT" and proceeding to format instruction
gets notice all data will be lost if drive is formatted (which is fine) but
formatting option also is only FAT. If it runs on my machine - WinME does
that mean it is in fact FAT32?
thnx
Barry

No. But the requirement to use FAT32 probably just means it won't work with
NTFS. I can't think of anything which works with FAT32 which wouldn't work
with FAT.

If there is still a problem then here's another option :-
How to format external hard drive to FAT32 in Windows
http://www.online-tech-tips.com/comp...ive-to-fat-32/

NB, I've not tried it myself, but the article looks interesting.

Good luck
