Default excel crashes on me

I use office 2000 pro on an ME OS. Lately, almost every time I use Excel (but
not always) and without clicking on my mouse, all the cells my cursor passes
are automatically selected and excel does not respond to anything I do. I
have to ctl alt del my way out, and reboot the machine to get excel to open
normally without this problem re-occurring.
I'm not sure if its relevant, but I use a screen magnification application
called Zoomtext, which I believe can wreak havoc with my memory and display
resources.
Any suggestios?

Try updating your graphics card drivers - from the manufacture's website.
See if that helps

Thanx Noel,
I downloaded the latest driver but to no avail. I also find my mouse
sticking a lot and sometimes I lose it completely, and again have to reboot
