Windows ME Auto Updater - AUMagic? Doubtful.
I have a doubt. I've been doing research on an integrated application that
appears to be regarded as an auto update facility for Windows ME. Upon inquiry and investigation of a colleague's Windows ME system the application in question seems to be "aumagic.exe" which appears to fire during Windows ME startup and appears to *me* (but does not trigger in various utilities) as spyware. I'm not very familiar with Windows ME patches or updates as apparently there is a KBnnnnnnn.EXE security task that apparently is native to Windows ME as well. Any feedback on AUMagic would be appreciated. Thanks, Alan |

Alan,
There is no legitimate file aumagic.exe that forms part of Win Me however the switch -AUMagic is used when launching wuaboot.exe on booting Win Me. wuauboot checks with the Windows Update site for critical updates. -- Mike Maltby Alan with an Eh Alan with an wrote: I have a doubt.
