cant get 256 or higher video, only 16 bit
Hi,
I'm working on a nec Z-1, circa 1999, computer with 96 megs ram, 8 gig hard drive, and a P3 450 cpu, Everything's ok now except I can't get it to change the display settings. In advance settings, where you tell it to change the settings without rebooting, it doesn't happen. I mean, no matter what setting I use in advance, when I change it to a higher setting the "you have to reboot for the settings to take effect" screen comes up, and when I reboot I'm still at 16 bit lo res. After doing the same thing over and over and getting the same result it occurred to me that one definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different outcome, so I thought I'd try here before the guys with the nets show up at my door. In the control center, system, hardware, device thing, there are no yellow exclamation marks, so windows thinks the display adapter and monitor are ok. any ideas, suggestions, etc. much appreciated. Check that you have installed the latest available version of the video
adapter card drivers for W98. They should be available at the www site of the video adapter card manufacturer or the system manufacturer (NEC). -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "~ Avery Anderson~" wrote in message ... Jeff,
You were right. It was the adapter drivers. I have 24 bit true color running now. Thanks, Avery |
