Need a W98 desktop adapter
There are adaptors, often sold as something like a "games adaptor", which
allow a wired ethernet port on the Win98 machine to connect to a small box which then does wireless to your access point. Look at the Netgear WGE111 for example or the D-Link DWL-810+ (although this is only a 10MBps device). So the connection is... W98-- wire -- WGE111 . . . wireless . . . Access point/WinXP. The comment about IE still applies because the WGE111 will present a web server to the W98 box, which is how you configure it. Paul DS wrote in message oups.com... I don't understand your response. I am trying to make a wireless connection from the Linksys router to the desktop running W98. There is no cable involved. Paul D.Smith wrote: Any external adapter (i.e. one which connects to your PC via an Ethernet cable) should work fine. You will want to have an up to date copy of Internet Explorer though as most of these devices use a web interface to configure them. Paul DS. |
