win 98 login to 2003 domain
I just got a request from my client that he wants 3 win 98 boxes to access
2k3 domain. The rest of the boxes are win xp pro. The win98 boxes are too old to upgrade to xp. I have downloaded and installed the DS client but still get the message: "no domain server was available to validate your password" What if anything do I need to enable on the server and install on the 98 boxes to get them to access the domain. Thanks, Frank |

You will need to load the DS Client software on your Win 98 machines and be sure NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled. "Frank" wrote: The client does not want to spend the bucks upgrading. win 98 login to 2003 domain
I have a similar problem with a few of my 98 systems as well. I have installed the dsclient and also added a key to the registry [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Lsa] "LMCompatibility"=dword:00000003 Still have the problem. sometimes I connect, sometimes I do not. Upgrading is planned next year for these systems. OBTW - The problem started occuring after I added another W2K3 DC to my domain. Any additional solutions would be helpful Frank wrote: *I just got a request from my client that he wants 3 win 98 boxes to access 2k3 domain. The rest of the boxes are win xp pro.
