Default modem problem (winme)

this new fax/modem was installed sucessfully acording to
windows there are no conflicts. There is a telephone/fax
connected as well. When dialing, the computer is silent,
but the modem sound and dialing can be heard on the phone,
the dialing message box appears and changes from "dialing"
to "checking username and password" yet no confirmation of
successfull connection. All connections were checked.
Any Ideas?

Please disconnect, or power down, the stand-alone telephone / fax
machine, and retest.
If this machine is interfering with the computer DUN connection, you
will have to install a third-party box, at the wall source, to mediate
the telcom connection.

Uncheck all but the TCP and check log onto network...in
your Dailup Networking....hate to say this..but...recheck
your login and password....* hope this helps ....Ro
