Default no sound after quick restore

If anyone could give me a link to some sound drivers for a Compaq Presario
700, (windows ME) I'd really appreciate it. I've done a quick restore and
the sound doesn't work. I've searched around several sites but can't seem to
find anything.

Thanks in advance

Reboot to Safe Mode
Open Device Manager
Remove ALL Sound &Multimedia devices
Remove ALL error-flagged devices
Remove ALL entries in the 'Other Devices' branch - if present
Reboot to Normal Mode - Windows will reinstall the required drivers,
hopefully curing your problem.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'm afraid it didn't work though. I've been up
to the compaq site and downloaded some files, but still no luck. I think
I'll check out google again.

Have you checked out the hardware?
Are you getting ANY sound out of the speakers?
Have you tried turning the speakers off for a few minutes?

What's showing in Device Manager?
