Default Trouble starting old ME version....please HELP us...

We have an old windows ME and have not used it in a few years. As soon as
the blue Dell earth goes away it goes to "enter current password". I tried
to start up in "SAFE MODE" by holding down the "Ctrl" key but that doesn't
work either. Lot's of old photos of the family on there and it's a pain in
the butt. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If, by the "enter current password" message, you mean the normal WinMe Logon
screen, then selecting 'Cancel' will usually let the boot-up continue.

In order to reset/bypass the password option see :-
"How to Prevent a Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Me Logon Prompt at
Startup"
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;152104

When it comes to setting up again, then if you no longer want a password,
enter a name but DO NOT enter any password at all, then click OK.
DO NOT "Cancel".

However, if the message refers to a Dell BIOS password, then you may need to
reset it in the BIOS - if necessary, removing the CMOS battery for a few
minutes or so. You may find further details in your User Manual
