Default

install routines created using the wise installer create a .log file with
one of several default names (uninstall.log, PROGRAM_NAME.log, setup.log,
install.log etc) in one of several default directories, but usually in the
same folder as the install. the .log file contains details of files folders
and registry keys created, so the uninstaller can find and delete those
items.

unfortunately(1), .log is also used for other purposes and may get deleted
by anti spyware programs.
unfortunately(2), some programs that you dont want, dont create the .log
file to make removal harder

If you are trying to remove AdAware, reinstall it (to recreate the .log)
then remove it
If you are removing adware, spies etc, then the line unfortunately(2)
above applies, so use AdAware to remove the adware, or spybot, or both
