I put Adaware on my elderly neighbours windows 98 but he has informed me as
from January it wont be available or free, not sure. We found it a good
spyware program. Does any one know of another good spyware program for
windows 98 that is free. We did have spybot but that didnt pick up as much
spyware ad the adaware program. Thanks.

I've not heard anything to the effect that Ad-Aware will discontinue its
free version Ad-Aware SE Personal. There are no notices that I can find on
their site that mention anything of the sort.

Can you somehow document this news? Also, see the second link in my

Margie,
I would venture that your neighbor is talking about AVG Antivirus, not
Ad-Aware SE.

AVG version 7.1 expires in January, and needs to be upgraded to version
7.5. Still a free download.
