Shoot.....now I will have to go figure out what the *Lancastrian District of
Cumbria* is. We never call it Cumbria.....coz we are working in the olden days. (G) Back when it was Cumberland & Westmorland. Oddly enough, Ron grew up in Westmorland in Jamaica......just a bit of trivia, lol. -- Cheers.....Heather List Admin - ENG-CUL http://www.british-genealogy.com "Mart" wrote in message ... OK Boni, - so, one of those folders *should* contain the BASE2.CAB.
Make a note of whichever contains the BASE2.CAB file and then try to make your Startup disk again and when prompted that :- the file 'aspi2dos.sys' was not found. then you only need to re-direct the warning to the appropriate folder (either the options\install or options\CABS folder) determined from the above and it should then continue and create the disk. Yep! - That's the one!!
That folder (53 objects) sounds very much like the one which WinMe puts onto your HD as WinMe is being installed for the first time. It is (almost) an exact copy of the complete WinMe installation files - and should not be deleted. (N.B. - note the word *should* and not *must*!!!) As I said elsewhere, *normally*, when installing Me from a MS retail CD, it copies the whole installation setup files to the windows\options\install folder. But with (some?) OEM CD's, it copies them to windows\options\cabs folder - and perhaps in your case, to a completely different folder. What is the full path of *your* CABS subfolder? So, you only need to re-direct the warning to the appropriate folder, the " (c / ...... CABS subfolder" (containing the BASE2.CAB) and it should then continue and create the disk. 'paths' or file/folder addresses are probably best illustrated by the
following examples:- C:\ C:\Windows C:\Windows\Options C:\Windows\Options\Instal C:\Windows\Options\CABS C:\Temp D:\win9x A:\MyStuff\MyPics\MyHols Where A:\ or C:\ or D:\ etc., are (often) known as the 'root' folders or directories of the particular disk. The rest being known as 'sub-folders' or 'sub-directories' - and hence, describes their respective 'paths'. Hope that helps explain things. So therefore, what was the path of *your* CABS folder? ... under c it is just by itself . boni Do you mean C:\CABS? And more importantly - did you finally manage to create a WinMe Startup disk?
