Thanks Robear,

I first "met" Ron in this NG back in my first year on the Internet in 2000.
I could tell he knew what he was talking about because of all the apparently
satisfied "customers" he had. He counseled me often, and never once chided
me for asking what were probably incredibly stupid questions. The man was
obviously very patient. I credit Ron with really sparking my interest in
computers, and the NG's. I may try to emulate Ron, but I will never, even
remotely, equal him.

At that time, I had no idea what an MS-MVP even was.

If MS-MVP were in the dictionary...the definition would be Ron Martell.
Farewell friend.

Curt

I'm not familiar with Ron personally,, however I'm sure all of us who have
read his writings or used his help at some point, wish to extend our
condolences to the family.

Thanks for informing us & allowing us to pay our respects. I see he was
just about 66 & died of cancer & thankfully painlessly. It's a pity, but
we all will pass along his knowledge for a while. And I should make a
ninth effort to quit smoking myself.

What I find interesting is that his last post to usenet was in July.

He made 3 posts to this newsgroup for all of 2008.

Announcement of his passing in this newsgroup happens a month after his
death.

Yet he will be "greatly missed".

Hmmm.

...get real guy, and get a life..
Ron was truly a wonderful, and technically gifted person.. only you would
butt your mouth in, a sarcastic way for attention, within a situation where
there is only be blessed light..

No need to get hyper-evangelical over this.

So you're saying that a person who expresses regret at the passing of a
long-term acquaintance they haven't had much contact with in the last year
or so is being disingenuous?

That's just the sort of thoughtless and inaccurate remark I would expect
from you.

I'm sure that you will not ever be missed here, not even slightly.

Over the years I have learned a lot from Ron and I have been missing him
for many months, since he stopped posting regularly. I was saddened to
learn or his passing, may he rest in peace.

John
