check the BIOS settings for your particular board,
whether there is an option for "action on supply failure" or similar phrase, that tells the pc what to do when power is restored after a failure, there is often 3 choices, 1 do nothing, 2 return to the state before power down, 3 always turn on. or similar phrases. choose the one that turns the pc on after restored power. -- Adaware http://www.lavasoft.de spybot http://security.kolla.de AVG free antivirus http://www.grisoft.com Etrust/Vet/CA.online Antivirus scan http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx Panda online AntiVirus scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/ActiveScan/ Catalog of removal tools (1) http://www.pandasoftware.com/download/utilities/ Catalog of removal tools (2) http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/n...aspx?CID=40387 Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts file http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm links provided as a courtesy, read all instructions on the pages before use Grateful thanks to the authors/webmasters "teong song mau" wrote in message ... how to use timer switch to turn on my computer without pushing the switch button on my motherboard?thanks. |

Be careful to specify a delay in turning the power back on. Frequently when power is restored there are a lot of transients that can kill your computer if you turn on immediately. When power comes back it often fails and comes back several times before becoming stable again. Try to give it several minutes if possible. I leave mine in the off state so that when I return I can turn them on safely under my control. James |

What's wrong with the advice you have been given? If you enable the option
"always turn on" (with or without a time delay) then when the timer turns the power on the PC will start. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "teong song mau" wrote in message ... thanks for the warning but due to the conveniences in my duty the pc needed to download data from a source for about 30minutes before it can be used i still need to have this function anyway. if anyone have an idea to help me to solve these problems will be much appreciated.thanks "James" wrote in message ... |

jeff thanks for your previous valuable advices but that only applicable to
my p3 pc not to the win 95 HP phoenix BIOS version 4.05.U (HP rev.ha.07.06) because in this pc don't have the option that you mentioned "always turn on" or similar phrase that enable me to do so under its power management. In that case, simply leave the power switch set to "On" and allow the timer
to control the power. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "teong song mau" wrote in message ... jeff thanks for your previous valuable advices but that only applicable to my p3 pc not to the win 95 HP phoenix BIOS version 4.05.U (HP rev.ha.07.06) because in this pc don't have the option that you mentioned "always turn on" or similar phrase that enable me to do so under its power management. |
