Default windows installer patches

Hello! Can someone (Glee!?) explain to me why my
system's(Windows\Installer\msi and msp files) have to continuously
show up? with options to apply. The patches are for/from Command
Software/Authenium. The DS's and Certificates seem authentic. I asked
my ISP tech about it---got nowhere. I went to the Site---it seems
that they are used by ISP's for security. I have Verizon Internet
Security Suite. What I really want to know is why do I continuosly
have to apply these patches? Is there a problem(s) that perhaps I can
overcome with you guys' help.

Default windows installer patches

Here goes Glee:
C:\WINDOWS\Installer\138bc.msp; 20468.msp; c34f4.msi; f2ae9.msi;
d59a7.msi; 472606.msi; a009e.msi; 2790bc.msi;
10ed38.msi; c948c7.msi; 9fe3d.msi; a6d06.msi; 24c161.msp; e13b89.msi;
1d067b.msi; a79e.msi; d35d0.msi;
93e4.msi; 63e49d.msi; 236539.msi. The first ten were modified this
year. The .msp files give the option of
'install patch, repair, or uninstall'. Should I continue to use
these or what? Some have digital signatures that
are either in date or expired. Some mention 'source list' or
'database'. At this point I am lost. I hope I got all the
numbers correcet-----I hate typing numbers! I have no idea how this
will post either.

..msi files in the C:\Windows\Installer folder are puit there by various program
installations that use the Windows Installer. You should just leave them alone. I
am not sure what your question is.

Default windows installer patches

My question is, what should I do with them since they give you choices
of what to do with them. I don't want to miss any 'good' patches that
are available to me. Thanks, anyhow. I saw and followed the post
asking 'what does the A+ mean in your title'. It was very
enlightening. A belated congratulations to you!

Default windows installer patches

MSI files are placed there by programs YOU INSTALLED.
MSP are patches to these programs that YOU HAVE INSTALLED.

apps installed with Windows Installer will copy their MSI to your
%windir%\Installer directory. things like Microsoft Office, .NET Framework,
etc will put their MSI files there (MicroSoft Installer file).

apps that use the Windows Installer to install also use it to update
themselves. these updates are in the form of MSP (MicroSoft Patch file).
they are also copied to your \Installer folder.

if you mess with the MSP or MSI files, you may not be able to
remove,repair,or update the installed programs

You don't do anything with them but leave them alone. See Xenomorph's reply for
further details. I thought my reply indicated that they were put there by programs
that were already installed, but I am often a bit too terse.

Thanks.....it is very belated since I have been A+ Certified for over 5 years (and
certifiable all my life)

My apologies Glee. I may have confused a post about something
concerning you. Be careful with that word 'certifiable' though. It
used to mean-------admittable--------which I will be after all this
high tech stuff.
