Intel App Accelerator are my CD-ROM drive
I recently installed the Intel Application Accelerator v 2.3.0.2160 after a
W98SE reinstall -- it makes a perceptible difference on my 450mhz/384mb RAM machine. All was well after the repeated series of reboots needed to install Windows etc. But after powering up this am, I noted that my internal CD-ROM drive had vanished from Explorer and Device Manager. (Note that my external CD burner is there and working fine.) A short search revealed that this was a known bug with the Intel App Accel under W98, but only in previous versions, and was apparently fixed. Or not. My BIOS reports the primary drive 0 & secondary drive 0 present (hd and CDRW) but no secondary drive "1" if that matters. As I prepare to scour the net for ideas, does anyone know the cause/solution?
