Shane's pulling your leg! Nottingham's just a bit further than 10 miles
south of the Lake District. :-) -- Mike Heather wrote: About 10 miles south of the Lake District. Ahhhh.....so she would then recognize my maiden name. I thought so........Robin Hood was nowhere near Cumbria, lol. Now I will
have to check my handy map of England behind me.....still have all of your names on yellow stickies on it. Shane........you are a ditz!! It is well southeast of the *armpit of england*........Stockport!! Not sure if it or Manchester were the worst. The rest of England was excellent, except for those two weirdos that we stayed with in Dorset........we still shake our heads over that one. Hey Mikey.......when we win the lottery, we will come over and take YOU out for dinner. Think Lizzie will have us over for tea?? Not likely, lol. XX Heather "Mike M" wrote in message ... Happy New Year
Sorry. Typo. Should have been 100 miles - though actually it's closer to 140
anyway. As for SW it would help if they didn't show us our island misaligned, one consequence of which for me at least is that I've spent my entire life having an instinctively incorrect notion of where the parts of the UK are in that regard. I only really know which way I am looking because of the direction of the sun or stars. Though Mike is right, of course. Heather wrote: I thought so........Robin Hood was nowhere near Cumbria, lol. I see there's been a few answers since my last visit, g definitely a few
more than 10 miles away I'd say, I know the name Bowness in fact we had a holiday in Bowness-on-Windermere a few years ago very enjoyable it was to, I think it might have been the year before you went there. 2004, was that the year you met up with Noel and borrowed his phone to talk to me ? -- Joan Archer http://www.freewebs.com/crossstitcher "Heather" wrote in message ... Yep......sitting in a pub in Chester, trying to learn the game for the ongoing soccer finals. LOL. Noel came in....all in black with a wild beard....and scared the locals half to death!! Only Ron and I knew he was a big pussycat.......bwa ha ha. My ancestors disappeared off the face of the earth. Got them back to the early 1700's and we descend from one brother who went to Scotland and made big bucks as a *mowdieman*. Testing your Scottish slang here. Bowness-on-Windermere was really pretty. Bob and Jean (owners of our Scottish ancestral home) took us to Whitehaven, then over a horrendous mountain to Bowness. I needed 3 valiums for that one. Can't remember the name.......Dead Man's Pass?? That's what I would have called it. Even the sheep looked scared.
